Thread lift

A thread lift restores the tension of sagging skin tissues in the face and neck, resulting in a lift-like effect with no scars. This procedure is conducted under local anesthesia at the medical office and yields results limited by time. It requires a certain level of surgical skill and experience to achieve desired results. A variety of techniques can be used to lift eyebrows, cheekbones, lower cheeks or neck depending on the patient’s needs.

The results are often complemented by another treatment performed at the medical office like hyaluronic acid or botox injections, or even a light chemical peel. Mild swelling and bruises can appear and last between three and six days.

Overview

The threads used for this procedure are notched and have the ability to attach to the tissues in which they are placed to create tension without any scars. Originally known as “russian threads”, thread lifts were first practiced in the early 2000’s using non-resorbable materials. Today, the threads used are available in slowly resorbable materials to avoid infections without compromising their effectiveness.

Procedure

A first consultation is always necessary to make a diagnosis and avoid disappointments. It also allows us to prepare for the procedure and to go over its results and follow-up requirements. I can then assess the number of threads needed to fit your goal and review the price range while also going over other alternative treatments.

Results and follow-up

Results are immediately visible. Mild swelling and bruises may appear a few hours after the procedure and can sometimes last a few days. It is best to wait about ten days before scheduling important professional meetings.

A monitoring appointment is offered eight days after the procedure. Follow-up appointments are then scheduled six and twelve months later to better assess the long-term results and take a few pictures for comparison.

Although they do not yield the same result as that of a face lift, thread lifts are far more effective than simple injections. They are even more satisfactory when combined with small operations like upper blepharoplasty, or eyelid surgery.
