Saggy breasts can make many women feel unable to do things as simple as wearing strapless shirts in the summer or feeling comfortable in a bathing suit. In some cases, this insecurity can even go as far as affecting a woman’s intimate life with her partner. A breast ptosis correction can make this constant stress around self-image can disappear for good.
Sagging breasts are a medical condition called breast ptosis, which often develops over time but can also be present at a young age as the breasts are forming. Regardless of what caused this condition, it can be treated through a surgical procedure that lifts and reshapes the breasts, sometimes by adding or removing volume at the same time.
Breast ptosis is classified into different levels based on the severity of the ptosis, it is most severe when the nipple is pointing downward underneath the inframammary crease. Whether surgery is adapted depends on the severity of the breast ptosis and on the size of the gland.
When the breasts are large enough, remodeling the gland and removing excess skin is enough to completely get rid of the ptosis. In some cases, however, the natural size of the breasts is too small to perform a mastopexy resulting in firm, harmonious breasts. These cases will require the addition of implants to ensure the best results.
I always ensure that all scars are as small as possible, but in order to obtain the best results, it is impossible to avoid a small vertical scar under the breast. The size of the scar depends on the severity of the condition, the more excess skin there is to remove, the larger the scar will be.
In certain cases, the ptosis is so mild that a simple breast augmentation with a small scar in the armpit is enough to reshape the breast.
After at least two consultations, once the patient and I agreed on every detail of the procedure, we can schedule an operation. A general anesthetic is preferable, and the operation from an hour and a half to two hours. You can spend the night at the clinic for maximum comfort.
You will need to take about a week off after the operation, but you should not feel any severe pain or discomfort.
