This procedure is most adapted when the patient experiences discomfort when sitting or when practicing sports. Sometimes, the discomfort is simply caused by insecurities linked to appearance.
Three distinct techniques can be used: liposuction, skin retensioning, and fat cell autograft.
The operation can be conducted under local or general anesthesia as an outpatient surgery.
Pubic mound liposuctions can remove the excess fat, and therefore eliminate unwanted volume. It is usually performed at the medical office under local anesthesia and lasts about 30 minutes.
Skin retensioning can sometimes require general anesthesia and has to be performed at the clinic. It can also be combined to a liposuction. The scar is hidden under the underwear.
Fat cell autograft is best adapted when someone lacks volume in their pubic area, typically someone who is especially skinny. The autograft allows for an augmentation of both the pubic mound and the labia majora. Small amounts of fat are removed from another body part, usually the inner knees, and are then transferred through very small needles, leaving no scars. This procedure also gives a rejuvenated look to the skin.
Bruises disappear after two to three weeks, but you will not feel any pain. It is advised to avoid being in a sitting position for too long and having sexual intercourse for the first two weeks following the operation.
For skin plasty, the threads used are resorbable and do not need to be removed.
